Scientifically proven
Our Sprechbild products are based on a variety of scientific studies and practical experience with dementia patients.
Cognitive Training:
The results of the systematic review by Bahar-Fuchs et al. (2019) show that cognitive training—such as that used in Sprechbild products—can be beneficial for individuals with mild Alzheimer’s dementia, particularly improving cognitive skills such as verbal fluency (1). Other cognitive methods are also effective in patients with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) and mild Alzheimer’s dementia: According to the S3 guidelines on “Dementia,” there is sufficient evidence supporting the effectiveness of cognitive stimulation and reminiscence therapy (2). Sprechbild products focus on MCI and mild Alzheimer’s dementia because, compared to severe dementia, it is still possible to support functional abilities (3).
Color Choice:
While the color choice may seem incidental, it is based on practical experience. Studies indicate that long-wavelength light reaches long-term memory more effectively and is therefore still perceived as pleasant in old age (4). For this reason, our Hörstift is designed in red and yellow.
